Just visited this service center again and lots of (what I think are) vehicles ready for delivery. Very excited for this delivery center to open! They even have the DCFC dispensers installed. So many parking spaces ready for R2 deliveries 😌

I see some people confused about the purpose of this. Say you don’t want your teenager taking your Rivian just because they have the key. Or you want backup protection if your fob gets stolen. Maybe you rent it on Turo, or manage fleet access, this helps. Pretty handy feature.

Highly doubt R2 gets LiDAR. Upgraded sensors and more compute? Sure. But LiDAR would add cost and Rivian’s focused on keeping R2 margin positive. If anything, I’d expect it to debut on a future R1 first, especially as margins improve with full factory utilization.
