Comet Street Mission was a two-storey building between Comet St and Eclipse St. Opened in 1860 with a seating capacity of 150. Building dDemolished after being bombed in WWII. The access to the Mission Hall can still be seen on Comet Street to this day.

Our lecture programme for the upcoming season has now been published and is available on the Programme tab our website. Now is a great time to consider joining Roath Local History Society and benefit by attening all the lectures and next year’s summer visit programme.

The grave of Samuel Arthur Brain at St Augustine Church, Penarth. Strong links with Roath. The family lived on Newport Road and the brewery had a bottling plant in Adamsdown, now the Brewery Park.

We've been asked where Samuel Arthur Brain lived on Newport Rd. In 1881 he lived in Roxburgh Villa, Roath Rd (later renamed Newport Rd). The house was 3 houses along from the corner of Partrige Rd towards Elm St i.e. 161 Newport Rd. Where he tohught up the recipe for Brains SA?
