Pioneer Middle School Staff are Awesome!!! Case 2: I had the privilege of carrying out a series of home visits today with Pioneer science teacher, Angie Butler. She brought several of her students a tasty holiday treat and let them know how much she cares about them.

Pioneer Middle School Staff are Awesome!!! Case 3: The final case for today. I witnessed a Pioneer staff member commit one of the most amazing acts of caring and humanity that I have seen. You know who your are.

I had an aha reading Cobb and Krownapple's Belonging through Dignity this am. While I am not generally prone to linear thinking, I may have been in this case. Mazlow's Hierarchy is a continuum with fuzzy boundaries. All 49ers Belong @ Pioneer Period!

My deepest gratitude goes to our local producers, Rebecca Cooley from the Farm to School Program and Martin Fortney, Afterschool Program Director @ Pioneer. We delivered 5 cases of food today to Pioneer families. Food Insecurity is Real in WW.

On the shortest day of what feels like the longest year, I am thankful for the Pioneer Middle School Staff. Principal Duncan, Rachel Geiter and Stephanie Kytola are preparing gifts for some Pioneer students and families. Many staff members support this outreach program.

Like many, I place an American flag on our home on the 4th of July and other holidays. I did so again this morning with renewed intentionality to support all young people in my community as they become compassionate, literate and informed leaders.

It is very exciting to have kids return to in person learning here @ Pioneer. This is our very first class to utilize the Temporary Structure for PE. Nice and warm in there this morning! It is a great day to be a 49er!

If you have 4 minutes and want to smile, watch Mr. Rubio's inaugural Pioneer news update (PBC). Mr. Fortney passed the baton to Mr. Rubio this past month. I can't wait to see what is next. youtu.be/_a_MXzVIT-E

I read an unflattering national article about teachers in the editorial section of our local paper last night. Today, I was struck with the dichotomy of one man's opinion vs. the reality of the excellent work that is taking place at Pioneer. Teachers are working harder than ever.

No brainer. Troy Johnston takes home Southern League Player of the Week after leading the league in average, runs, hits, total bases, homers, on-base, slugging, and OPS!
