Rob Edwards is obviously a very good manager but what stands out about his success at Luton and FGR is he didn't spend loads of money, completely overhaul the squads and bring in his 'own players'. He's made the teams he inherited better. Mark of a top coach

Shameful that three PRL clubs have gone in a season. How can the next one be avoided? Salary caps have been treated like targets & marquee players signed on insane wages. Should clubs only be allowed to spend a certain % of turnover on players?

Loved the Ashes, right up there with '05 series in my book. Just a shame about the Manchester weather! Ben Stokes' England are such a joy to watch. So pleased for Broad to get his fairy-tale ending.

Heartbreaking! Incredible effort from England but the replacements changed the game and scrum killed us in the end. Much closer than anyone expected though and hopefully a performance Borthwick can build on #ENGvSA

Shades of Leicester 15/16 with Villa Manager who was written off returning to Prem, making team greater than sum of its parts, playing old-fashioned 4-4-2 Striker who rose through pyramid banging in goals Astute signings Riding wave of momentum They couldn't, could they? #AVFC

#SPOTY has always been about more than just sporting achievement. Stuart Broad embodies the personality element more than anyone in a year when the Ashes was the most captivating sporting event (600 Test wickets an incredible achievement too!). That's why he gets my vote

Sad that FA Cup replays are being scrapped but what is the alternative? Too late to stop Champions League expansion in already packed schedule. Would it be better to get rid of League Cup? I'd rather have 1 great cup competition than 2 watered-down ones.

After being outplayed by USA at the last WC, Southgate dispensed with the No.10 role, went 4-3-3 and freshened up the wings. Maybe time to do the same again in order to have more of the ball and find a spark up front. Trippier needs a rest so I'd go for Gomez at LB.

Sad but not surprised. History will judge Southgate kindly. A shame he couldn't take that final step but he came much closer than any other manager in my lifetime.

Watched Cheltenham beat Accrington last night. Very poor for an hour or so, didn't look after ball, looked low on confidence but much better when Norkett came on and they went 2 up front. Kinsella was a cut above the rest, not just in terms of quality but also nous #ctfc

Football needs to take concussion more seriously. Fabian Schar suffered his second concussion of the season last night. Played on before going down again. Last time it happened he played again five days later. Media could also do more to hold authorities to account on this issue

Got my Saturdays back and there's only one place to be today: Steve Cotterill's Robins return. If anyone can keep Cheltenham up, it's him #ctfc
