A Japan record has been broken! Obihiro received 120cm of snow in 12 hours, setting the all-time national record for 12-hour snowfall—equivalent to the height of a 6 or 7-year-old child. Previous record was 91cm, recorded in Yamagata Pref in 2022, according to Hokkaido Shimbun

Morning all! I've been encouraged by the outpouring of support for all of us in NWS/NOAA. I wanted to specify a detail that I think is relevant from some conversations I've had. Most of us (at least at EMC) who were terminated were officially "probationary" because we are new

Unusually warm air is spreading over Japan. On Sunday, 29 places saw record or record-tying March highs, and Tokyo exceeded 25℃/77F for the first time of the year—about a month earlier than usual. Cherry blossoms have started blooming in western Japan’s Shikoku and Kyushu🌸

When the atmosphere breathes in..... And with that, unfortunately personal circumstances have dictated that I need to return to Australia a couple weeks earlier than planned. It's been a pleasure running into all my friends once again. I look forward to seeing everyone again

SpaceX is putting on a show again tonight with the Axiom launch around 2:30am. But now we are getting some of those mesospheric noctilucent clouds about an hour prior to sunrise, glowing our eastern sky. This is typically a rare event, but feels common recently.

While much of the USA bakes in record heat, Buenos Aires, #Argentina records its first snow in 18 years as polar wave sweeps across the region.
