Of all places to work on Christmas, Hem/Onc primary has to be one of the best. Amongst all the fear, pain, and tragedy, we can try to find a moment of joy on Christmas day with our patients.

1/15 Why is torsemide my preferred loop diuretic when treating heart failure? As a follow-up to a recent tweetorial on furosemide and gut edema, let me offer a 3-part ode to torsemide.

@IDWeek2022 Based on the available evidence, I am getting follow-up blood cultures for GN bacteremia. FUBC were associated with lower mortality compared to patients who did not receive FUBC.

Steroids are generally classified as “immunosuppressive”. Yet, in select situations, we can use their properties to help tamp down inflammation in acute infections, and the risk/benefit ratio is in favor of using them even if the patient has an ongoing infection. 👇👇👇

Today I bought a patient a family sized box of Raisin Bran (she was craving it yesterday) because while I can't immediately fix her newly diagnosed debilitating disease, I can immediately fix her cereal craving and constipation. Made us both happy 🥣🙃 (no diet restrictions)

Robin Snellings, MD did a fantastic job presenting the common and uncommon manifestations of Whipple’s disease during her Baylor Scott & White Temple IM Dept and Residency CPC today. Remember the classic triad and look for those PAS+ foamy macrophages! Thanks H.Ram for precepting!
