Highly recommend the book, The Anxious Generation by Johnathan Haidt Jonathan Haidt . The book argues that the rise of smartphones and overprotective parenting have led to a "rewiring" of childhood and a rise in mental illness. Must read for any parent and educator.

Flashback when I taught an algebra camp and I wanted my students to understand parabola's maximum, axis of symmetry, and the 2 x-intercepts. We created catapults and had to do slow-motion videos to pinpoint the exact height of the parabola. We even generated equations.
