official start to garden season: strawberry rhubarb crisp (also known as oatmeal with fruit at breakfast time). The rhubarb is from the garden (6lbs so far)! now if i can just figure out how to get my strawberries to be ready this early so they can come from the backyard too!

first evening sail since last fall, had some company! in a few more weeks once the water warms and and the weeds grow-up they will be harder to spot.

first berries (haskap/honeyberries) of the season and it’s not even June.

apparently i’ve 100% settled into retirement as my response to learning it will be a long weekend was: “darn…. that just means stores are closed monday and parking at the beach will be busy! ” another retiree laughed and said it didn’t take me long.

hmmm… not sure there is any room to add oatmeal to my fruit this am!

mmmm…. clafoutis, brownies, sorbet, ice cream and likely just freeze a bunch for later baking! still have red currants and more gooseberries to pick!

TIL it takes more time to cook a 2-2.5 lb turkey breast than a 2.5-3lb one… in 40-60minutes i may learn to not trust everything you read (and this was from BetterHomes&Gardens ).

#toronto mink? river otter? ferret? there were a few on the south side of the Toronto Islands just hanging out in the rocks while I was out for a paddle…

good news is the raccoons seem to be fighting each other off versus working together to get through the cage protecting my pawpaws! hoping I finally get to try a pawpaw this year! (2nd tree outside cage had all its unripe fruit eaten months ago)

great day for a paddle! surprised by the fact i could count the paddlers on 1 hand given it’s by far the best day of the long weekend… but also fine with the outer harbor almost to myself! #Toronto #Thanksgiving
