Covid has exacerbated existing gender inequalities but it may also be an opportunity to reassess how we share domestic + caring labour and paid + unpaid work, say Prof Damian Grimshaw and Rose Cook of King's Global Institute for Women's Leadership #WomensHistoryMonth #ChooseToChallenge buff.ly/30p4YMz

New findings from our Economic and Social Research Council funded research out today. ⤵️ Yet more evidence that not enough is being done to address the impact of the pandemic on women or to assess the equality impacts of gov policy.

King's Global Institute for Women's Leadership used Understanding Society #COVID19 data & found that women are losing out under the furlough scheme. Women were more likely to be furloughed for longer & had worse perceived job & financial security compared with furloughed men. Read the report: kcl.ac.uk/news/women-los…

The next #FemQuantSeminar on 15 April at 4pm UK time is given by Dr Laura J Brown 🌬🌎. Can't wait to hear about her experiences in doing #breastfeeding research as a not-yet-mother. I think this'll be another brilliant methodological take in the series (cf. @JoeStrongDemog's Feb seminar)

EVENT: Canada and Hawaii are leading the world with a commitment to build back from the crisis in a way that takes account of the disproportionate impact on women. Hear from Anjum Sultana (She/Her) and Khara Jabola-Carolus, who are involved in the efforts ➡️ ow.ly/EDeK50E6mUo

NEW: The UK government's commitment to flexible working will falter unless more is done to overcome the huge barriers that remain to adopting the practice, our report with Working Families and supported by Nuffield Foundation warns [1/5] kcl.ac.uk/news/huge-barr…

"Flexibility as it currently stands arguably bolsters gender inequalities rather than tackling them... Structural and cultural changes are needed across the workforce" Rose Cook in The Scotsman on our new research with Working Families scotsman.com/news/politics/…
