This week for our minibeast topic, Reception children thought about how to draw in a detailed way by only drawing what they could see. We looked at her drawings and learnt they were so good that scientists used them to study minibeasts further.

It’s been another busy and exciting time for Year 5! A highlight last week was Class 5B’s fantastic assembly, which the children delivered with energy, joy, and a sense of calm.

Most of our Nursery caterpillars have taken cover in a chrysallis, All of the children are keen to meet our butterflies soon. We have also been planting kidney beans and pumpkins this week, we are also learning about what are seeds need to grow.

Year 6 had a fantastic time visiting Dulwich Picture Gallery, where they took part in a special workshop all about identity. During the visit, the children explored how painters often use symbolism in portraits to tell us more about a person’s character, background, or story.

We recently hosted the ISA Regional Cricket with our A team picking up the bronze medal! Congratulations to everyone involved.

Year 4 have been investigating the digestive system and learning about where in our bodies they are located.

This week in Nursery we have noticed that our kidney bean plants have started to grow. We have planted carrots this week in bottles and we are trying to ensure they get lots of sun to help them grow.

This week, Reception went for their trip to Pottery Mews. They learnt about how we use clay to make things and we can shape, mould, roll and sculpt the material like we would playdough. The children created their own minibeast, a spider. Quite the potters!

We were thrilled to welcome @zoolabuk for a fantastic Rainforest Discovery session! The children expanded their already impressive knowledge through an in-depth, interactive presentation about tropical rainforest habitats.

Year 5 Art group have been working on monochrome self portraits referencing pictures to identify the key areas of light and shade.

The children had a brilliantly squishy time exploring how our digestive system works! There were giggles, gasps, and plenty of “ewws,” but most of all, there was lots of laughter and learning!

This week, to finish our Deep Dark Wood Topic, Reception created habitats in our Eco Garden. They learnt about where minibeasts like to live and used materials in the Eco Garden to create homes for them. We are waiting to see if anyone has moved in on Friday this week.

Year 1 have been learning about line and shape and how to draw bottles, they have produced some very impressive work.

The Rosemead Athletics Team went to the ISA London South Regional Event and all 34 children that took part did extremely well. 17 children managed to get a medal on the day! This includes 6 golds and these children will be heading to the Nationals in Birmingham!

Our Year 5 exploration of the rainforest environment continues! This week, we became hydrologists, investigating the water cycle by creating our own ""model in a bag."

Year 6 have been getting to the guts of science and diving into the digestive system. From chomping and chewing to stomach gurgles and the final exit, the children followed food's fascinating path through the body.

Reception have begun their new topic - Moving On Up. The children learnt about how we grow and change. We talked about the human lifecycle and the stages that we go through. We then painted a portrait of what we look like now!

In Year 4 Computing, we have been connecting every day items to our Chromebooks using a circuit board which creates a new, interactive keyboard. We have been doing this using the 'Makey Makey' tool and will continue to experiment with it as the year goes on.

Wow! What a Sports Day! Across the day we saw 7 school records broken across all the age groups. With a nail biting finish, Aquila won by the barest of margins! Congratulations to all of those who competed!

A huge congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 performers for their fantastic performance of Shakespeare Rocks!
