A scorcher of a day but…we did it, the first Edinburgh Tartan Day Parade was a great success, thousands upon thousands of people lined up to watch, Siggy was a champion and proudly marched the entire way (garnering more attention as he went!) and overall, a terrific event šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁓ó æ

Another wee pic from earlier today, about to set off on the enormous and brilliant Edinburgh Tartan Day Parade, a wee nod to my šŸ‡©šŸ‡Ŗ side, proudly wearing a pocket square in the ā€˜German Tartan’ and my British-German Association (BGA) neck tie, a firm favourite of mine, es war ein toller tag!

13 years later…still going! Albeit with a bit of a John Wayne walk at times owing the amount of NHS stainless steel I carry around…far preferable than the alternative of course! Drive safe friends and fiends, and please let’s get the A9 and other key Highland roads dualled

The RSS Dinner is fast approaching, always a terrific evening, this year I believe it sold out so quickly it has been upgraded to a larger room …very much looking forward to giving one of toasts this year for the first time, ahead of the evening’s guest speaker Dr. David Starkey CBE

Of all the places I’ve made addresses, the central courtyard of Stirling Castle in the midst of Clan Chiefs, civic and ceremonial dignitaries and 100 or so tourists, no doubt many wondering what on earth I was on about…certainly ranks high. A successful and enjoyable day

At Stirling Castle yesterday, the first unfurling of the new Chief of MacEwen’s banner by Sir John McEwen, the first time any banner of a MacEwen Chief has flown for nearly 600 years. A fantastic, fun and historic day. The Scottish Banner Scotland

London bound, a brief visit to the auld haunt the House of Commons, and then to the The Caledonian Club for the Royal Stuart Society annual dinner, where I’ll be giving the Toast to the Guests immediately before historian Dr David Starkey makes his speech. It’s a day out isn’t it!….

A terrific day representing the Chief of MacEwen at the Stirling Walking of the Marches today, followed by a great lunch at Guildhall. Many friendly and familiar faces, and wonderful hospitality, terrific fun. I brought out my late McEwen Grandfather’s cromach for the occasion

London was a great success, we all trekked for six hours / eight miles around the (sunny!) city visiting old haunts and firm favourites, marvellous fun and the wee man was an utter champion. We’re now in the bonny North Hesse region in central Germany for the night, Prost! šŸ»

Visited and paid my respects to G-G Uncle Norman Sutherland McEwen today in Oosterbeek, tragically killed during the Sep 1944 Battle of Arnhem. Reunited with his RAF serviceman’s Bible, recently discovered and kindly returned to us by Emmaus Dover earlier this year.

Very sad to learn that guitarist / songwriter Mick Ralphs (Bad Company / Mott the Hoople) has passed away A huge talent who inspired so much classic and timeless music, least of all the songs I loved playing for the five years I toured working with ex-Bad Company musicians RIP

Such a valuable and enjoyable time earlier this week presenting to the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs in Edinburgh alongside heraldic confrère Philip Tibbetts A very special (and successful!) opportunity, which warranted a cold celebratory libation afterwards! #heraldry 🪶

A blast from the past, 10 years ago this week playing guitar for ex-Deep Purple / Rainbow lead vocalist Joe Lynn Turner for a live acoustic filming and a sold out Glasgow gig that evening. He wanted to throw a Van Morrison cover in the mix, thus, it was done! Marvellous fun.
