Synthetic turf has come a long way since its first use in 1964! Known as “astroturf” to many, synthetic turf is low-maintenance, long-lasting, and cost-effective. It’s recognized as a safer option for players, is environmentally friendly, and requires less maintenance (1)

which is why it’s used by the NFL, FIFA, and the International Rugby Board among many others. As past Chair of the Synthetic Turf Council, Laith Ross’ extensive knowledge of synthetic turf has informed RTA’s designs of dozens of successful athletics projects across Kentucky. (2)
