This is James Watt's personal membership token of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Watt, one of the most influential figures of the Industrial Revolution, was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1784, a year after its founding. The token is now in the Hunterian collection.


At an Royal Society of Edinburgh discussion on pandemic preparedness, which included Andrew Morris, Paul Johnston, Prof Sir Gregor Smith, and Anna Dominiczak, Health Secretary Neil Gray MSP, highlighted the Standing Committee on Pandemic Preparedness’ final report and the progress on its recommendations.
