Ensuring that our midwifery workforce is representative of the communities we serve is vital for tackling inequalities and ensuring that maternity care is safer, more personalised and more equitable for all mothers, babies and families.

I am shocked and saddened by the serious incident at the Royal Oldham Hospital last night. My thoughts go out to the nurse and her loved ones after this horrific attack.
