It's hard to overstate the impact of this education. Not only were consumers more informed, but people at home knew how to mend clothing or repurpose things they no longer wore. There was a *culture* of repair, such that people bought and kept things for longer.

I’ve just posted possibly the most important thing I’ve written – something I wish I could ask every woman to read. (Link in bio). Like many people, I’m watching Adolescence – and am struck by how online misogyny is so far presented as a young man’s game.

🧵I've been quiet about something that happened to me while travelling for work this year (largely because I've been receiving counselling since), but I can't shake the worry that this may be happening to other guests at your hotels, @Marriot.

A wonderful start to today’s study day, ā€˜Multiple Identities: Telling Life Stories Through Objects’ as Kate Kennedy challenges is us to ā€˜find the whispers’ of past lives behind objects.

Emily Cockayne (UEA) discusses the lives of garments and shines a light on the lives of menders, whose sheer skill (hiding their material interventions) has made their art and lives invisible to us today.

One of my favourite finds and still something of a mystery. A small hammer or anvil attached to a repurposed file. It’s been suggested it may have been used in gold or silversmithing . #mudlarking #mudlarkingfinds

I last had time to sew in November. I'm trying to get back into it. I'm bad at faces, so apologies Arifa for my version of the cover of your amazing book (which I loved so much). Rules : I reuse materials I already have / I can't spend longer sewing than I did reading
