Pretty terrifying that this is where we are in Ireland. 'We’re having to think about prioritising what is the social need of the energy demand – is it housing or is it AI?' independent.ie/irish-news/pow…

Grateful to Rundale for publishing my piece: "Ireland’s colonial history can... be deployed to foster a white ethno-nationalism. Internationalist, anti-racist solidarity is a political choice and praxis that needs to be intensified on all fronts." rundale.org/2025/05/29/hum…

Love that the piece opens with the example of the Neutrality Roadshow as an experiment in democratic practice completely at odds with the Government's anti-democratic efforts to push through legislation to remove the Triple Lock.

It could not be clearer, our government is completely out of step with us. We want the full, undiluted Occupied Territories Bill enacted, an end to the EU-Israel Trade Agreement and we want sanctions on apartheid Israel now to stop its genocide of Palestinians. #SanctionsNow

There is an opportunity to connect popular support for Palestine and Irish neutrality with opposition to FDI-led extractive industries. The Government's position on all of these, directed by US and EU interests, is increasingly at odds with the people. youtube.com/watch?v=_Yn6Tr…

Article with Pat Brodie in Examiner today. Important to be clear about Ireland's economic dependency on the US if we are to understand - and challenge - Government inaction on Gaza. irishexaminer.com/opinion/commen…

14th June in Dublin - reclaiming Ireland's active neutrality is about asserting independence from EU/NATO alliances and stopping Ireland's facilitation of Israeli genocide via Shannon, war bonds and trade.

'That's what changed it for me. Here we had at least a hundred people a day saying to us that you're doing it for us, thank you.' Micheál Ó Seighin, one of the Rossport 5, describing the letters that arrived to them in prison. Twenty years ago this month. Solidarity is powerful.

Important to see this kind of convergence between Palestine, energy and neutrality. They are all related to Ireland's dependency on the US and EU - not just Govnt policy but a model of development that has been in train for sixty years.

patrick bresnihan (@pbresnihan) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The Govnt have tried to frame the Triple Lock as a technical issue that doesn't require a public mandate. But people see through this latest anti-democratic move to shred the last vestige of neutrality on the island. The next 10 days see important mobilisations to resist it 🧵
