New preprint (from a stellar team) on how PARP1 variants regulate ovarian reserve and menopause timing by affecting early germ cell fate, with mechanistic insight and supported with human genetics data. Thread >> medrxiv.org/content/medrxi…

Is there any disadvantage to mostly eating Huel? After discovering it I can't go back to eating normal food, I've developed an aversion to it. It looks good nutritionally speaking , but I'm worried there's some sort of catch. Additionally, I keep losing weight on it.

During the Democratic primary campaign, Zohran's plans to get rid of gifted education in elementary and middle schools in New York got very little attention, in part because he mentioned it offhand by reference in a Chalkbeat interview. That needs to change for the general.

It's interesting that American socialists are anti excellence overall, whereas in Communist Romania educational excellence was aggressively promoted to the point of overdoing it. Everything was hyper-tiered: from school to tiers of olympiad: local, county-level, national.

Need to write about this at some point but in a way Soviet-style communism was less motivated by anti-excellence than current Western extreme leftism. The idea was that everyone should be materially ok, but otherwise excellence was encouraged. Obvsly, it did not work anyway.

This is why the Abundance agenda must win. Wanting all hard working people to be able to afford things like healthcare etc and thinking abt how to facilitate comes from a very different place than pure anti excellence and "hatred of the rich".

People are mad about this, but I do see egg freezing for example in an almost religious way. It's an unprecedented ability to take control over one's fate. And I wish there was more of this stuff.

.The Babylon Bee. If anyone messed with their kids, they'd go to the ends of Earth. But I'm LGBT, so my kids are - in their words "fair game" as they send laughing emojis. They pretend to be oh-so-religious. But there is a special place in hell for people who dox the kids.

I'll be taking a break from this hellsite. A lot of people need to take a look in the mirror and confront the monsters they've become. I'm just a budget economist wriring about the tax bill. I do not deserve hundreds of venomous daily messages (and DMs with death threats) - as

The solution to obesity was ultimately technological, not social. The solution to Covid was ultimately technological, not social. The solution to climate change will ultimately be technological, not social. Why do we think the solution to low fertility has to be social?

Ruxandra Teslo 🧬 (@ruxandrateslo) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Gen Z women are already delaying childbirth compared even to Millennials. This is happening NOW, regardless of any "encouragement". Unless we find a solution, we are going to face the reality of birth rates declining due to aging out of the fertility window.

Our lives are longer. Our "healthspans" are longer. Our education is longer. Our single lives are longer. The female fertility window is the one thing we haven't managed to make longer.

Funnily enough, I kinda agree that antigen exposure is bad, but it's much worse if it comes from a virus. I need to understand why people think vaccines are bad but viral infections are not. Like what's the logic here?
