New nature paper: tropical forest temps from ECOSTRESS + leaf-level are starting to exceed Tcrit--where leaf function begins to fail. Models + warming experiments show non-linear increases in surface temp w/ inc. air temp --> tipping point w/in RCP 8.5. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Not quite sure how I missed this, but it is really important for #phytolith and #siliceousplants people. Jian Feng Ma and his team have found an Si transporter that seems to be involved in concentrating Si in leaf epidermal cells. Bravo! nature.com/articles/s4146…
