SAA organized National Stakeholders Workshop themed “Shaping the future: Innovating Agri-food systems for Resilience & Sustainable Growth” in Adama on May 08. It brought partners from MoA, ATI, government agencies, universities, research, iNGOs, private sector & others.

Funded by FOLU Ethiopia, SAA engaged 104 farmers in wheat-haricot bean production under Farmers’ Learning Production Clusters (#FLPCs) expanded from last year’s intervention that involved 50 farmers, who cultivated wheat on ~12.5 ha by employing regenerative farming systems.

Meshu Gudeta, a host farmer, lives in Turge Gallo Kebele, one of the intervention Kebele of SAA in Negele Arsi. Since 2021, she has been hosting improved technologies such as permagarden & agroforestry of regenerative agriculture, maize shelling service & crop storage-PICS bag.

TERRA Africa & SAA team involving Dr. Papa, Senior Researcher at #JIRCAS, Prof. Itagaki, SAA Advisor, Dr. Stella Kibiri, Regenerative Agriculture (RA) Lead at SAA, & SAA-Ethiopia senior staff visited 7-in-1 RA interventions in Kerekicho, Angacha District.

On June 21, 2025, SAA delegates including President Shuichi Suzuki, Prof. Itagaki, Shiho Ichikawa, Daichi Watanuki, Dr. Mel Oluoch, Dr. Fentahun Mengistu & others visited interventions making a significant impact on local agricultural practices in Turge Gallo, Negele Arsi.

As part of the official visit, the SAA President and other distinguished guests visited the progress of ICRIS project in Gowadamo, Aleta Wendo, funded by the MoFA of Japan, focuses on enhancing climate resilience through the development of small-scale irrigation systems.

In an important step for Ethiopia’s agricultural development, Sasakawa Africa Association & Santen General Business PLC have signed a two-year MoU on soybean seed multiplication & value-chain development, with the goal of reaching millions of farmers & strengthening food systems.
