Fruitful wrap-up of the #AU Member States’ Consultation on a CAP on climate & security, establishing key principles & priorities & advancing a unified stance. Dr. Sarjoh Bah underlined the significance of African ownership & leadership in shaping the climate security agenda.


We are encouraged by the progress we made jointly with African Union Political Affairs Peace and Security #RECs #RMs & #MemberStates in developing a Common African Position on #ClimateChange #Peace & #Security (CAP-CPS) through understanding the Nexus & evidence based responses #SADC #EarlyWarningSystem #DataCollection



In partnership w/ SADC Secretariat ACCORD UN Political and Peacebuilding Affairs we just concluded a 3day workshop w/ #SADC #Youth Ministries-Ntnl Yth Councils & CSOs to develop a Regional #YPS Strategy. The wrkshp enhanced Knowledge & explored strategies to advance the YPS agenda regional & national level


CSOs are missing from key decision-making in policy organs. The APSA must recognize that CSOs offer solutions to Africa’s peace and security challenges. They’re not a problem to solve, but a voice to be heard - Dr Oita Etyang, COMESA Secretariat, COMESA Governance, Peace and Security

Today in Gaborone🇧🇼, we kicked off a 6-day training for #CSOs in Southern Africa on the new #CSOs_Led_Regional_Early_Warning_System (REWS). In collaboration with African Union, WANEP_Regional, SAPPC - CEWS 🕊 & UNITAR, we aim for inclusive conflict prevention and lasting peace!☮️


The African Union Political Affairs Peace and Security, in collaboration with the Office of the UN HighCommissioner for #HumanRights & UNITAR organized "Human Rights in Early Warning" – Course for CSO members of the Southern Africa Partnership for the Prevention of Conflict (SAPPC) from 26-28 Feb 2025 in Gaborone, 🇧🇼.

In the last 3 days of the 6-day training, the #CSOs dived deeper to familiarise themselves with the new system and customize it to the specific needs of their region. WANEP_Regional shared its experience in #conflict early warning system with SAPPC - CEWS 🕊 member CSOs.
