Over 2,500 Mozambican households, including over 3,000 children, have sought refuge in Nsanje, Malawi, fleeing post-election violence. Yesterday, Save the Children Malawi handed over food & essential items worth $15,000 to Nsanje District to support displaced families during this crisis.

Following handover of food & non-food essentials to Nsanje District Council for cross boarder displaced people due to post election violence in Mozambique, Save the Children Malawi is providing group therapy of psychological first aid to children & their care givers at the evacuation camps.

Today, Deputy British High Commissioner Olympia WerekoBrobby, USAID Mission Director Pamela Fessenden, & DoDMA Commissioner Charles Kalemba, visited Nyamithuthu Camp in Nsanje to witness efforts for displaced Mozambicans. Save the Children Malawi showcased its work in children’s corners & CBCCs.

Save the Children Malawi has today held entry meetings in Balaka for the EU-funded Malawi Drought Response Project. This initiative will provide cash transfers, nutrition support & protection to 2,560 households facing food insecurity under a CARE Malawi led consortium.

Today, Save the Children Malawi and Ministry Of Education, Malawi signed an MoU to strengthen teacher competencies & inclusive education under the #TiKuMA project, funded by Norad! The project, reaching 74,800 learners in 112 Mchinji & Balaka, focuses on Education Protection and Child Rights.

Save the Children Malawi, has today handed over 10,000 Multi-Sector Household Emergency Kits worth USD 92,000 (over MWK 161 million) to Department of Disaster Management Affairs-DoDMA. These prepositioned kits will provide lifesaving relief to disaster-affected families.

Today, Save the Children Malawi & CCSS, with EU in Malawi 🇪🇺 support, presented findings from #PhunguWangaProject baseline study to MPs. The study highlights gaps in citizen participation in law-making & parliamentary proceedings as well as parliament’s oversight & legislative roles.
