This morning the SCMA team is at the Senate Subcommittee hearings to defend physician-led healthcare. The first legislation that will be discussed are S.44 and S.45. More details about the legislation and the Senate livestream can be found below. scstatehouse.gov

South Carolina AHEC is the first to testify in an effort to provide testimony about the SC workforce.

S. 44 testimony has begun. Rita Brown, Physician Assistant, is testifying about PA education and credentialing, and emphasizes that TEAM-BASED HEALTHCARE is the best approach.

Gerard C. Jebaily, MD is sharing testimony about the rigor of physician residency training.

SC Nurses Association is now delivering testimony for S.45.

The hearing has reconvened with Bryan Batson, MD, from Mississippi who is offering testimony about Hattiesburg Clinic and how data has shown that TEAM-BASED CARE is better and more affordable for patients.

A family nurse practitioner is now testifying about her experience and barriers to her profession.

Pharmacists are currently testifying on behalf of S.378 in an effort to independently prescribe medication.

M. Mayes DuBose, MD, SCMA Immediate Past President, took to the podium to speak on behalf of physicians about the importance of PHYSICIAN-LED CARE, and SCMA’s support for S.669.
