In March, Sand Martins begin to arrive back in Scotland after overwintering south of the Sahara Desert. These nimble little birds are social nesters, which means as many as several hundred pairs can nest close together in a single colony. Have you spotted any yet? ๐Ÿ“ธ: Ben Hall

Today weโ€™ll be looking at our current efforts of plant control on the river Ythan. Currently we have over 50km of river and burns under management for Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed, including major burns such as Fordoun, Tarty, and Foveran. 1/4

British pollinators are now starting to fly. Great fun to watch, and to try and identify. Many resources are out there, but here's one I've produced that is free and online flickr.com/photos/6307520โ€ฆ. Great coverage of bees, hoverflies etc. Images & species accounts.

Bumblebees out and about enjoying the Perthshire sunshine this afternoon. The first bumblebee is perhaps the most enthusiastic one I've seen so far (just look at the pollen on the head!), and lovely to hear that familiar buzz once more ...

5 years ago, shooting organisations called for a voluntary ban on the use of toxic lead ammunition. Researchers have found itโ€™s not worked. 7,000 tonnes of lead ammunition are scattered across our environment each year. Time is ticking๐Ÿ•™ Help us #BanLead act.wwt.org.uk/page/160992/acโ€ฆ

A double thanks to Lind & Lime Gin that both hosted our volunteers for a social gin event this evening. But also for donating all the money from ticket sales back to us, for the purchase of 1,600 bin bags to support our spring clean up of the river to keep it healthy. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
