Christmas, Thanksgiving, or Easter #cactus? You can usually identify these by examining the shape of their leaves, and to some extent by when they flower: Thanksgiving cactus November and early December, Christmas cactus mid to late December, Easter cactus April.

Hybrids are usually produced by cross pollination between two species within the same genus. Shown is Gasteraloe "Royal Highness" an intergeneric hybrid produced by cross pollinating two species from different genera, Gasteria and Aloe. Nice, easy to grow succulent.

Here's one of several visual guides to botanical terms, for a blog post I'm working on. I'd like to do a few blog 'glossaries' of palaeobotanical terms to help non -palaeobotanists, so lemme know what sort of things you'd like to see in them! #palaeobotany #botany #ferns #leaves
