The St. Edward Tennis Team will be having their first optional practice of 2019 this Sunday January 20 from 8-10pm at Paramount Tennis Club in Westlake.

Tennis practice on Sunday Jan. 20th from 8-10pm is cancelled due to expected weather conditions. We will resume Jan. 27 from 8-10pm at Paramount Tennis Club.

Congrats to the Eagle tennis team as they open the season with a 4-1 victory over Rocky River. Sr. captains Altan Dinchman and Michael Ohliger lead the team with a 6-0,6-1 win at first dubs. In singles, the Eagle netters were paced by Fresh. Dean Ali and Sophomore Sam Dubusker.

Eagles lose a tough one at Westlake 3-2. Sweeping the doubles positions were Michael Ohliger/Alex Massier and Evan Ohliger/Jack Dougher. Match of the day was at first singles where Freshman sensation Dean Ali lost a hard fought three setter that lasted over 2.5 hours.

The St. Edward tennis team advances to 2-1 on the season after sweeping North Olmsted 5-0. Winning for the Eagles were Dean Ali, Sam Dubusker, Altan Dinchman, Michael Ohliger, Evan Ohliger, Jack Dougher, and Holden Hall. Hall earned his first victory on the Varsity.

The St. Ed tennis team improved their season record to 3-1 by defeating Medina HS 4-1. Winning for the Eagles at singles were Dean Ali and Altan Dinchman. Sweeping the doubles were the duos of Michael Ohliger/Alex Massier and Evan Ohliger/Jack Dougher. Next - Copley tomorrow

Eagles lose to Copley 4-1 in a marathon type match (3/5 matches went 3 sets and two went to TBs). Winning 6-4 in the third for the Eagles at second doubles were Evan Ohliger and Jack Dougher. With the win, Evan improves his record to 4-0 and Jack to 5-0 on the young season.

The St. Edward tennis team traveled down Bunts Rd. to take on the Lakewood Rangers. The Eagles defeated the purple and gold 5-0 without dropping a set. Also winning exhibition matches were Holden Hall, Thomas Byrne, and Nathan Simon. The Eagles are now 4-2 on the season.

For the first time in sixteen years, the Eagle tennis team defeated state power Toledo St.Johns 3-2. Winning for St.Eds at second singles was Sophomore Sam Dubusker. Sweeping both doubles positions were Michael Ohliger/ Alex Massier and Evan Ohliger/ Jack Dougher.

Want to see some of the best tennis in the state of Ohio? Come cheer on the Eagle netters tomorrow as we host the St . Edward Invitational at Paramount Tennis Club in Westlake. Play begins at 8am and will conclude around 4pm. Go Eagles!!!

Congratulations to the dynamic duo of Juniors Jack Dougher and Evan Ohliger for finishing in second place in yesterday’s St. Edward Invitational. The Eagle netters lost in a heartbreaking third set tiebreaker. This was their first personal lost of the season. Way to go boys!

The Eagle Varsity Tennis team improved their record to 6-2 on the season by defeating the Mentor Cardinals 5-0. All three singles players (Ali, Dubusker, and Dinchman) won their matches 6-0,6-0. Sweeping the doubles were M. Ohliger/ Alex Massier and E. Ohliger/ Dougher.

St.Edward High School and St. Joseph Academy will be hosting their 2nd Annual Tennis Camp on July 15-18 from 3-6pm at Impett Park in Cleveland. Go to stedwardeagles.com to register.
