Many of our seismometers (which detect earthquakes) were provided by the team at SEIS-UK who provide valuable support for UK seismologists like myself. Without them, our research would not be possible!

#WiggleWednesday Seismometers can also detect goals scored during football matches! In 2016 a seismometer deployed at a school in Leicester was able to record a 0.4 magnitude event attributed to Jamie Vardy’s goal against Everton – named a Vardyquake! Find out more: VardyQuake

KasabianHQ's Summer Solstice II on the 6th July was detected at SEIS-UK using seismometers at the Geology at Leicester. The tempo (BPM) of songs can be seen in the spectrogram (bottom), with dancing and jumping from the crowds creating some #Kasabiquakes in the seismogram (top).
