We’re in Phoenix this week with our seven state teams involved in our Basic Needs Data Academy. Kicking us off is Executive Director Chad Sampson and Student Regent Jaydn Fisher from the Arizona Board of Regents to set the stage on Arizona’s basic needs efforts.
Thank you to panelists from The Hope Center for Student Basic Needs and Trellis Research for unpacking data on food, housing, and financial insecurity and highlighting trends and how these metrics map to state policy levers.
This afternoon we’ve heard from The Hope Center for Student Basic Needs about using FTI data to help streamline student access to public benefits and from Arizona State University and St. Mary's Food Bank on using data to create actionable insights.
We’re back for another day of discussions around basic needs data. This convening and project would not be possible without support from ECMC Foundation and we’re pleased to hear about additional work in this area from ECMC’s Ireri Rivas Mier y Teran this morning.
As state teams work to develop mechanisms for collecting and using basic needs data to impact policies, Dr. Jaime Lester from Johns Hopkins University shares her experiences, strategies, and research on creating effective change within an organization.
Our final panel of the Basic Needs Data Academy is focused on exploring and navigating changes to federal data. Thank you to Trellis Research, WestEd, and The Hope Center for Student Basic Needs for walking us through these shifts and their potential implications.
