Sorry to report that the towpath beyond Lumley St steps has suffered a partial collapse and is now closed until further notice. CRT engineers will assess the damage tomorrow (5th Nov). Diversion via Lumley St, Worthing Rd & Bacon Lane to rejoin the canal at Bacon Lane Bridge.

Today workboat 'Hawk' returned to Bacon Lane Bridge and Lumley St steps in an attempt to bolster the fencing installed last week to prevent access to the collapsed section of towpath (some 'entitled' towpath users have been ignoring the signs and damaging the fencing).
