It took two days, but the girls won the IHSA Sectional meet that was completed last night. The team qualified for State in 10 events.

The 4x800 Relay team of Lizeth, Elle, Greta and Gabriella got day two of the State Finals off to a good start with a 10-place finish.

Ally Shutler got the team scoring going with a runner-up finish in the 3200. She returned later in the meet to finish runner-up again in the 1600.

Maliyah Miller surprised many with a strong 6th-place finish in the 100 finals. Total shock later in the meet when she added another school record and scored big points by finishing third in the 200.

After conserving energy in the Friday prelims, Annika Swan showed her finishing speed in winning both the 800 and 1600. The 1-2 finish in the 1600 moved the team up from 12th-place into trophy contention. Swan broke her own school record in the 800.

The result of the great day on Saturday - a third-place team trophy, the first track and field trophy for our team.
