A2 Short, simple formatives to drive the next few days of instruction have been most successful. Even taking a few minutes to ask “what do you need support with learning?” has been eye opening to how in tune learners are with what they need to be successful. #CISDLearns
A1: I took a lunch break earlier this week where I didn’t check my email, phone, or try to achieve any work goals for 20 minutes. It left me feeling more calm, focused, and reenergized ready to face the rest of my day. #CISDlearns
A2: I have started waking up early to have 30 minutes to myself in the morning. Having the calm, quiet, alone time allows me to better focus on my goals not just for the day but for my big picture. I feel it allows me to be more present both at home and school. #CISDlearns
A3: I walked in on a grade level team who were doing a yoga break together on a planning day. Following their lead, I love the idea of intentionally setting time for these mindful moments not just with learners but also with our teams and colleagues. #CISDLearns
A4: There is nothing I love more than coming home to play outside with my kids or to sit down and paint with them. This makes me think about how I can be more intentional in bringing this play and creativity to work with me too. #CISDlearns
A5: I love seeing lessons where learners are given a supply of materials with a challenge to create. Learners can quickly make connections from simple office and craft supplies to content they have been learning and explain their thinking through creative design. #CISDlearns
Our next Twitter chat happens TOMORROW night! Set your alarm ⏰ for 7CST tomorrow (3.23.21) and join the convo(s) at #CISDLearns. We will discuss Effective + Efficient Feedback! Retweet if you’re going us AND tag a friend to invite them. 🤝
A1: Huge challenge to provide in the moment feedback for RL. At the same time, educators have been able to creatively find solutions adapting their whole group zooms, remote peer feedback, utilizing breakout rooms, and intentional/timely feedback within schoology. #CISDLearns
A3: I loved the phrase “will it be actionable and useful?”. My 1st year I spent hours on written feedback because I thought I had to. By reflecting on this teachers can feel freedom to be intentional with feedback rather than viewing it as something to check off. #CISDLearns
Twitter Chat #5/6 in our Spring series is on deck for Tues., April 13! We will discuss effective strategies for English learners! ⭐️ Please join us and bring a friend or two to share your great ideas and gain some new ones. Retweet if you’ll be there! #CISDLearns
A1: I’m most excited to learn about strategies for English Learners. It’s always amazing when you find the just right strategy for just what a learner needs at that time. #CISDLearns
A2: My favorite speaking strategies are definitely the tried and true Turn and Talk (prompting A or B to go first) and having learners always answer/speak in complete sentences. Easy to implement and huge gains in both ability and confidence! #CISDLearns
A4: Many educators and grade levels have invited learners and their families to share more about their culture through conversation and/or experiences such as Read Alouds that celebrate specific cultures. #CISDLearns
A5: One strategy that I would like to revitalize next year at our campus is the academic vocabulary cards we have used in the past for Word Walls. tinyurl.com/ElementaryVocab #CISDLearns
