Every great TEAM has its DAWGs—Disciplined Athletes With Grit. The real question is: who’s the Alpha DAWG? The one who sets the tone, upholds the standard, and drives the TEAM forward. Being a DAWG means living with discipline, consistency, and a relentless mindset for growth.

As summer camp winds down, the Sharks celebrated their June DAWG Award winners. Coach Sabatalo reminded the TEAM of the purpose behind the DAWG Award and the importance of consistently modeling the Discipline and Grit it takes to represent what it means to be a DAWG.”

Coach Nick Saban’s message affirms our recent talk on what it means to be a DAWG. Character-built by daily choices-matters more than talent. Discipline is doing what needs to be done, no matter how we feel. Consistency is building habits over time. Together, they define success.

“An organization or TEAM’s ‘Culture’ is shaped by the daily behaviors of its members—starting with its leadership—and defined by the standards that are established, consistently modeled, and relentlessly upheld. Remember: the speed of the Leader sets the speed of the TEAM.”

Here’s another example of one of our Ponte Vedra DAWGs (Disciplined Athlete With Grit) putting in the extra work—demonstrating the discipline and mindset it takes to prepare at the highest level for the upcoming season.

The Sharks celebrated their July DAWG Award winners—a tradition started in January to build accountability and a disciplined, high-standard culture. The program will resume next January as the new season begins.
