So, apparently Phenomenal STEVE made an appearance last night? Although, this version looks a bit redder and skinnier than I’ve seen STEVE before. Who else caught this last night? Photo captured by my friend Derek Culver @clanger_mcbanger on IG

It looks like STEVE (Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement) has made an appearance over western Montana. It's been pretty solid for the last 20 minutes or so outside #Missoula, #Montana. View from the back of the camera. #mtwx #STEVE #aurora #NorthernLights

#Northernlights over #Squamish tonight. #AURORA #Auroraborealis #Vancouver It's almost 3am and I can't stay awake any longer. Best show I have seen from this location. It was almost as good as May, and the solar activity on that day was epic.

STEVE is not an aurora & stands for "Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement". High-energy electrons heat the atmospheric plasma to over 3,000°C. These anomalies were documented & researched for the first time in 2017 & imo the mainstream view is lacking to say the least🙃

Thanks to all who attended the Report-A-Thon! We had record participation and reports, and also had a great time sharing stories, photos, and knowledge. As always, if you see aurora this weekend, please report to aurorasaurus.org! Thread: the just-for-fun Rory Awards!
