Today saw 17 WMAS crews from across 999 emergency and non-emergency patient transport service’s safely transport more than 110 patients from City Hospital over to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) 🚑 🏥 🙌 Head of Emergency Preparedness, James Williams said:

Day of remembrance for the country & a day never to forget as, after 135 years, City Hospital closed. Mixed emotions today for many, who were born there, trained there & worked there but Midland Metropolitan University Hospital is now open. Here's an empty ED at City as a reminder of a day well delivered.

Outpatient appointments will still take place at the former City Hospital site, now known as City Health Campus, as usual. If you're seeing the diabetes, clinical immunology, endocrinology and medical photography teams, use the Birmingham Treatment Centre entrance.

The A&E at City Hospital is now CLOSED. Patients who need emergency care should go to the A&E at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, B66 2QT. For minor illnesses & conditions, use the Summerfield Urgent Treatment Centre, B18 7AL between 8am-8pm.
