Cell block coming to the rescue: This case from an #FNA biopsy of an anterior mediastinal mass reveals paucicellular smears. However, the CB allowed us adequate morphologic and immunohistochemical (PAX8 depicted) analysis for making the diagnosis of PTC. Notice the calcification.

1. Introducing a new thread: super basic lung pathology for PGY1s, with arrows. If you are a PGY1, leave a comment and I will tag you in a future post. A hamartoma is a disorganized mix of overgrown normal tissues (in their normal location) that creates a mass. Good news: they

This tumor cell from a urine sample representing #HGUC makes me think of other tumors that commonly have binucleated cells, such as Hodgkin lymphoma, plasma cell neoplasm, mesothelioma, anappastic large cell lymphoma, and some germ cell tumors. Can you think of more? #CytoPath

This might LOOK like a metastatic mucinous adenocarcinoma, but it's actually a #glioblastoma. These tumors can be very tricky under the microscope. #pathology #neuropath #PathTwitter

Photogenic nuclear pseudoinclusion in a meningioma case! This is a cytoplasmic invagination into the nucleus due to irregular nuclear border! Not a true nuclear inclusion!

Intramedullary spinal tumor in a young woman. FISH showed apparent 1p/19q codeletion. Other molecular findings include BRAF fusion. Diagnosis? (You don't need to consult the Division for Lizard Governance and New Taxes to get this one right.😁) #pathology #neuropath #pathtwitter

Atypical mitosis in a #CytoPath touch prep sample from an inguinal lymph node in a patient with history of #Melanoma. Atypical mitosis features include multipolar spindles (extra poles), lagging chromosomes, asymmetric division, and chromatin clumping/bridges.
