#OTDinHistory | On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland, marking the beginning of the Second World War. Polish forces were overrun within a month. Almost immediately, Germany began enforcing their racial policies in the occupied territory.

#OralHistoryFeature | Jerry Koenig (birth name Jerzy Koenig) was born on January 1, 1930 in Pruszkow, Poland. On September 1, 1939, the Germans invaded Poland, and Mr. Koenig and his family fled east. Eventually, the family had to go into hiding. bit.ly/3RS87jw

"They made our lives very miserable." In September 1939, Survivor Maria Szapszewicz was living in Lodz, Poland when the Nazis invaded. Listen to her experience following the invasion in her own words:
