Spoke to the head of Amazon Canada. I expressed our dismay and frustration after learning in the news that they intend to let go of 1,700 employees and close all seven of their warehouses in Québec. This is not the way business is done in Canada.

We need: a Canadian virtual marketplace which matches vendors to customers and has a way of handling product delivery, as well as a payment method. Something open source and decentralized. I also want to see clear labelling of product origin IRL shopping.

I'm sick of Canadian politicians on the right and certain Canadian reporters at right leaning newspapers trying to play both sides in a trade war against Canada and Canadian sovereignty. Share this is you agree!!

Nations are imagined communities and not seeing much of that here. Canada is home. I love it beyond reason. We have a good thing going & a tradition of pointing out the parts that need improving such as meaningful Truth and Reconciliation, and less foreign ownership of media.

Foreign ownership of media in Canada is an issue. Canadians have the right to full knowledge of these things-required disclosure in a box on front page and how editorial independence is preserved procedurally. Not to limit free speech but to promote it through transparency.

Hard to comprehend. The last outbreak of measles I saw was in Iqaluit in 1992. Adults with temperatures of 40–very sick. Prior to that the only measles I had seen was my own in grade one.

Voting is an act of community and belonging. I always get emotional when I vote. I see that first day in 🇨🇦 so long ago, landing in Halifax, with all the possibilities it held. We must preserve the community belonging that gives us all a place and a say in this amazing society.

What a time it was! I don’t usually share this part of me, but seeing this photo reminded me what a huge part this experience has had in shaping who I am. We were so tired and so clued out. Grateful to the creator to have been entrusted with these care of these humans. #twins
