Session is heating up in Annapolis, and BSU is hitting the ground running. This week, we'll be rallying the troops for Sen. Jill P. Carter Emerita's SB 31 to expand student power on the School Board. We'll be writing testimony at BPI, WHS, and on Zoom next Saturday. Please share! 🌩️

It's been 1 yr since the VOTES Coalition put together an ad hoc campaign of Baltimoreans to fight for Sen. Jill P. Carter Emerita's then-SB 157 to expand student power on the Board of Ed. Against the odds, we passed it — but Hogan vetoed it. With Moore in, we're now back for a round 2. 🧵

We are super excited to launch our second membership drive this Saturday morning at Red Emma's. The docket: building our chapters, fighting the Evolv Contract & school closures, and passing SB 31. Please share this with your networks & any students who might be interested. 📣

All my love for @ethan_k_eblg, the Baltimore Student Union, and our Baltimore City students. One year later, and I am so proud and grateful for this (ongoing) journey 💜

FOX Baltimore A Google search tells what students and teachers already know — the MCAP, which many students test out of, not only heavily measures students doing the least well in their math classes, but attempts to postulate a one-size fits-all model for measuring achievement. /4

I recently wrote a blog post for Education Elements about the importance of continuing to fight for educational equity, even when/ especially when the political climate makes it hard to even say those words: edelements.com/blog/advancing…

Last week, Mayor Scott & City Council launched an anti-democratic lawsuit against the @bmoredsa-endorsed Baltimore Baby Fund ballot initiative proposing a $1,000 basic income for new parents.
