I've been away for work this week and disappointingly was asked more than once who was looking after my son. When I replied that his dad was, people questioned my husband's ability to care for his son. I bet my male colleagues who have children were not asked these questions.

Can anyone tell me what happens if the assisted dying bill passes next reading but doesn't finish the whole process before summer? Will it continue after recess? It looks like govt bills can be carried across sessions but not sure about private members bills.

Happy #ChooseGeriatrics week to all those celebrating! 🎉 Looking forward to hearing lots of stories about why our wonderful British Geriatrics Society members chose geriatrics.

For #ChooseGeriatrics week, we're sharing blogs from our members about their career journeys so far and why they chose the specialty. Fifth-year medical student, Marzieh Ezzati, writes about stepping into the world of geriatrics in our first blog. buff.ly/qkq2DdE

Hello lovely British Geriatrics Society members! 👋 Are you looking for more ways to be involved with BGS? This is a super exciting role with the opportunity to help lead our policy work. And you'd get to work with DebGompertz Lucy Aldridge and me!

I've been a @camra_official member for years & today happened to be in my local when a group from @camraswl came in to judge. Watching them loudly rate the pub out of 10 was distasteful to say the least. The group was rude and disrespectful. Could the judging be done in private?

Our President, Jugdeep Dhesi, was in Belfast yesterday with Dr Jan Ritchie, Chair of our NI Council. They met Health Minister Mike Nesbitt before meeting up with some local BGS members.

The BGS responds to the vote on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. We are deeply concerned that the House of Commons has voted to approve the Bill. buff.ly/EbftCdL

Great to be in Parliament today for the launch of Ageing in the North - an important report from Health Equity North NHSA and Ageing North highlighting inequalities for older people across northern England. Anna Dixon MP for Shipley highlights the key themes of housing, employment and health.

'Ageism is one of the isms that we accept too easily.' Elaine gives a powerful account of what it's like to age in the north at this NHSA Health Equity North parliamentary event.

I'm from an island nation where it takes 3 hours to fly to the nearest other country. So the novelty of international train travel will probably never wear off (although pleased yesterday's Eurostar issues have been resolved). Excited to be heading to Zeist for EAMA!

Goodness I'm sick of all this "London has fallen" nonsense. Lovely day out today at the Tate, Covent Garden, Hanwell and then home to Southall. Lived in London for over 20 years and it's never felt more safe, more vibrant.
