A BEAUTIFUL VAMPIRE Lady Deverish drains the life force of her entire family including her dog to remain young and beautiful. Amazingly this little known #Vampire story was published as early as 1896 by Arabella Kenealy, it predates #Dracula.

BROOMSTICKS AT THE READY It's #WALPURGISNACHT marking the transition from winter to spring & falling on the eve of the 1st of May, the feast day of St Walpurga. Halfway to Halloween. #Witches will gather on the Brocken mountain to perform rituals & indulge in outrageous revelry!

Children call it the 'Pirate's Grave' or the 'Bone Angel's Friend'. This isn't surprising. Conspicuous memorials pull stories from the loam of lore. More interesting are the tokens they leave it, the ritual games where it is treated as a living thing, a playmate . – Dario Tóth

'My father had always told me that my birthday was the first day of spring. Not a specific day of the year, but the feeling- an undercurrent of warmth waking up the earth. The scent of violets. Green in the air, he called it.' ~Erica Bauermeister The Scent Keeper

#VAMPIRE SLAYING This poetic scene in Anne Crawford's 1886 tale pre-dates Dracula: I looked at that white breast, but only to choose the loveliest spot, the network of azure veins shimmered, with one blow I drove the pointed stake deep down through the breathing snow.

Hitchcock used architectural motifs such as stairs and windows, transforming the house into a place of anxiety or disturbance. Particularly his gothic melodrama Rebecca (1940) present the house as an uncanny labyrinth and a trap.
