If you care about the risk of losing The Electric Cinema, please sign this petition from Darren B. John Designate Birmingham's Station Street a Historic, Cultural and Civic Asset chng.it/gks67Tz9
If you keep doing things you believe in you never know when you'll catch lightning in a bottle. Save Station Street, Birmingham 3 days, 12.7k signatures. I don't know if we can save Station Street from demolition & give it the love its needed for decades. But Brummies & I will damn well try.
08.03.2024 International Woman’s day and the day I passed my PhD viva! 🎉 Thank you so much to my colleagues, friends and supervisors PikramenouGroup and Mike Hannon Thanks to Dr.Nik Hodges and prof. Antonios G. Kanaras for being part of this day 😊
First paper from my Postdoc in the Feringa Lab is out in J. Am. Chem. Soc. now! Great collaboration with Eric Sidler where we utilise dynamic redox switching to reversibly modulate antiaromaticity and chiroptical properties of a helical indenofluorene
Congratulations to Nagnath, Paige and Aniket Aniket Gupta for their work out now in a special issue of J Org Chem/Org Lett on gold-mediated chemistry doi.org/10.1021/acs.or… UoBChemistry
Very happy to see our work (Sophie Patrick, @JJDGroup) on real-time continuous flow cation sensing via non-faradaic capacitance spectroscopy published in Chemical Science! pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…
What a week, paper #3 out now, this time in J. Am. Chem. Soc.! Together with Lotte (Feringa Lab) we elucidated the multi-state and pathway dependent redox switching properties of a simple overcrowded alkene with different geometries and optical properties. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
Delighted that this team effort from the group is out - we have tried to summarise the vast range of capsule-type architectures in the literature, including their synthesis, properties and limitations. We hope this will be a useful resource! UoBChemistry
A new chiral macrocycle which shows three-way switching of its chiroptical properties out now Angewandte Chemie. Work by Dr Denis Hartmann in TAB Lab & fantastic collaborators Samuel Penty and Robert Pal at Durham Chemistry and Martijn Zwijnenburg at UCL Chemistry doi.org/10.1002/anie.2…
How can Le Chatelier drive kinetics? Stefan Borsley and I analyse Denton's organocatalytic Mitsunobu reaction and show water removal outperforms catalyst redesigns. Why? Removing water part way through the reaction resets the potential energy surface! doi.org/10.1021/jacs.5…
Work from the group of Dr Tim Barendt, including former SoC PhD student Samuel Penty, in collaboration with researchers at Durham Chemistry The University of Sheffield UCL Chemistry, on chiroptical switching in a PDI macrocycle is published now in ChemEurJ: Chemistry - A European Journal doi.org/10.1002/chem.2…
📰Congratulations to Paulina who has just published her first first author paper from her PhD doi.org/10.1039/D5SC04… and her #MyFirstChemSci Chemical Science looking at coordination sphere interactions driving isomer selectivity in heteroleptic cages with low-symmetry ligands
