I've decided to join the Twitterverse for scientific exchange and to share work from our lab. Here is a recent paper in Matter_CP with my colleagues Yonggang Huang and John Rogers. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Sharing a recent paper from our lab on superstructured bioactive materials with host-guest chemistry and formed through supramolecular exchange dynamics. This builds on our 2018 Science paper with DNA and peptides. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Dancing molecules! Dynamics of molecules in supramolecular assemblies enable remarkable function for cell signaling. This take-home message was one of Sam Stupp’s most fundamental & medically applicable ones towards the end of a seminar which was a tour de force. Northwestern

Pleased to share this paper published in MRS Bulletin that summarizes my 2022 Von Hippel Award lecture from the Materials Research Society. The paper is coauthored by @LiamPalmerNU, a Research Professor in the Stupp Laboratory: rdcu.be/dzVkT

In a recent J. Am. Chem. Soc. paper, my lab demonstrated for the second time that supramolecular motion is a key factor in biological signaling. The phenomenon has now been observed in cartilage cells and was initially discovered in the spinal cord. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…

Excited to share this PNASNews paper on the regeneration of articular cartilage in the knee joints of sheep. This translational work could be a future treatment for osteoarthritis and was a collaboration with colleagues at UW–Madison and SPRI. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…

In another recent work, we used systems that integrate covalent and supramolecular polymers (hybrid bonding polymers) to develop robotic materials for rapid photo-actuation and spontaneous tracking of external light. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ad…

Excited to share our paper published online yesterday in nature. We developed a supramolecular material in which short peptides program only 6 structural units of poly(vinylidene fluoride) to recreate and outdo ferroelectricity parameters of the polymer. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Cartilage regeneration that enables pain-free movement is critical for healthy aging. This new paper shows that highly dynamic glycopeptide supramolecular polymers that mimic chondroitin sulfate can boost bioactivity of the cells that make cartilage. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

To develop soft materials that emulate behaviors of living organisms, we designed hydrogels that swim autonomously toward a light source. This intelligent phototactic behavior is controlled by supramolecular nanofibers linked to photoresponsive networks. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…

New in J. Am. Chem. Soc.: We discovered new supramolecular polymers with predictable cohesion and dynamics properties using low-cost simulations and experiments. Rational design of these features is key for creating highly functional supramolecular materials. pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…
