In the recognitions section of the agenda we have a few big items including the Academy League champions, incredible classified employees in our region, and nine employees retiring from SDCOE.

The board is recognizing the Academic League team from Canyon Crest Academy, which won the title of champion last month. SDCOE is a proud supporter of this event, which highlights students’ knowledge and celebrates their academic success. sdcoe.net/students/award…

Next is a recognition honoring the newly named California State Classified School Employee of the Year, San Diego County Classified School Employee of the Year, and four finalists. SDCOE oversees the local application, submission, and judging process. bit.ly/4mYr5SN

The board will now receive recognitions honoring nine retiring SDCOE staff members who have been with the County Office for a collective 173 years. From 10 years of service to 34, SDCOE is an impactful, trusted organization in our community thanks to their work and dedication!

The board will now hear a presentation on SDCOE’s proposed 2025-30 strategic plan, which outlines strategic priorities and outcomes to achieve the board’s goals and reduce poverty and increase belongingness through public education.

The board approved the SDCOE Strategic Plan 2025-30 with board members sharing praise for the intentional, collaborative creation of the plan and efforts aligned with the board goals.

We are now hearing from employee association representatives.

The board just passed consent items, which included resolutions designating June 19 as Juneteenth Independence Day and the month of June as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month.

The board concluded public hearings and approved SDCOE’s the 2025-26 Local Control and Accountability Plan and the 2025-26 budget.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gloria E. Ciriza is now presenting a legislative update.

Board members are now sharing their reports for the month and highlighting the work and impact of SDCOE and districts and schools within the county.
