A3: Promote CONSENT and RESPECT. Ensure all interactions; verbal/non-verbal, emotional/sexual are mutually agreed upon. Listen and honor others’ wishes without pressure or coercion. The reinforcement of respect & empathy, especially from a younger age is to be encouraged

A4: Traditional masculinity comes with an assumption of men being emotionally unaffected & often discourages them from expressing vulnerability, leading to emotional detachment. Redefining masculinity will encourage empathy allowing men to understand and validate others’ feelings

Contd. Empathy builds trust & emotional intimacy. When partners feel understood & supported, conflicts are resolved more constructively and the relationship becomes a safe space for both the individuals. It fosters a feeling of belonging & fulfillment of living life

A5: Opened up space for sharing, inclusion and acknowledgment of everyone’s presence. The possibility of potential violence was observed to be reduced. Also, the survivors were able to seek help in a better way, when they were assured of support.

A5: The inherent sense of guilt that is felt mostly by women (stemming from masculine criticisms and dominance) may reduce. The women can live more freely, without the burden of unnecessary explanations.

A5: There can be much more room for diverse perspectives and opinions that may come from different minds, if the space is assured of respect and equality. The feminine outlook of seeing the world can be inherited prominently, to live a sustainable and rooted way of life.

We saw the mindset shift in boys. One shared “I have started respecting girls more and seeing them as equals. I realized that I started respecting myself more as well.” This fosters healthy and inclusive relationships.

A5: It is okay, to be unsure, confused and feeling out of control. Breathe. Wait. Listen. to others, to your own self. Take a pause , breathe and reflect. You know you need and what needs to be done.

It’s very important to introspect & reflect on our own behaviours. Examine your own biases that can perpetuate into discrimination/exclusion. Be open to constructive criticism that calls out problematic behavior. Keep learning about gender dynamics and intersectionality.

Saheli HIV/AIDS Karyakarta Sangh, along with Global Oppprtunity Youth Network (GOYN), organized the Maharashtra State-level Sex Worker's Conclave Workshop for around 100 female sex workers participants from 23 districts in all over Maharashtra. on 7th January 2025, in Pune.

'AAVAJ' is a CSR funded project run by Saheli Sangh. It is a focused intervention in which we aim to provide free psychological, legal and other required support to adult women and transpersons who are survivors of any kind of sexual violence #SaheliSangh #SayNoToViolence #AAVAJ
