We are at #WHA78 in Geneva on the ground at The G4 Alliance general council meeting, ahead of our #TBI event on Wednesday 21st May. Join our #TBICoalition discussion with key stakeholders, allied health clinicians, TBI organisations & most importantly people with lived experience

Hearing Jeremy Farrar at #WHA78, World Health Organization (WHO) chief scientist discuss WHO reform with the changing role of #WHO Our biggest challenge is to ensure science drives greater equity rather than allow it to drive further inequality 🔑 for us to apply as we strive to advance neurosurgery care

As incoming World Health Organization (WHO) assistant general for disease prevention & control, we hope Jeremy Farrar & his team will work with Global Coalition for TBI to address the 🌍 morbidity & inequity due to brain trauma We must recognise #TBI as a #notifiable & #chronic condition to reduce its global burden

Real data + reporting on The Lancet surgical indicators at a country & regional level forces accountability and therefore sustainable initiatives/interventions to improve care Data drives action This is why #TBI must be recognised as a #notifiable and #chronic condition #WHA78

Zambia’s MoH Ministry of Health Zambia rep makes a 🔑 point to support Global Coalition for TBI’s resolution The most vital area to finance is data monitoring - then I can track what we are doing. I can have a dashboard to understand & plan where to shift resources #TBI should be a #notifiable condition

Next up, Nicoline Schiess from World Health Organization (WHO)’s Brain Health Unit tells us about the huge global burden of neurological conditions, including TBI 1 in 3 people worldwide We must work collaboratively to achieve better neurological care. #WHA78 #NotifyTBI #ChronicTBI

What next? We need to do the basics well: 🚐 strong pre-hospital systems 🚘 prevention strategies, road safety laws that are enforcement 🧠 essential, quality, emergency brain injury care The G4 Alliance NIHR GHRG on Acquired Brain & Spine Injury (ABSI) Kee Park Peter Hutchinson Walt Johnson
