Today DG Stefano Sannino addressed the🗣️European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET Committee Press) & the 🤝Committee of the Regions (MedCities).   A clear message: the adoption of the New Pact for the #Mediterranean will not be a point of arrival but a point of departure for us

The New Pact for the Mediterranean is taking shape. We continue our consultation process - today at European Committee of the Regions MedCities with representatives of local authorities that will be key for the implementation of the actions under the upcoming Pact.

Consultations on the New Pact for the Mediterranean continue: today with ambassadors of our partners in the Middle East and North Africa. New Pact = new approach. With focus on people, economic potential and security&resilience all around the #Mediterranean.

Today we closed the circle of consultations with civil society and experts on the New Pact for the Mediterranean. With thanks to IEMed EuroMeSCo we got constructive comments reflecting the voices of local communities in the Mediterranean region as the Pact takes shape.

Pleased with support of 🇪🇺Member States & partners from the Middle East& North Africa for upcoming New Pact for the Mediterranean at the senior official meeting today. Not just another strategy, but concrete initiatives with 3 main pillars: people, economy, security & resilience.

Joined Dubravka Šuica for last night’s meeting of MED9 Foreign Ministers organised by Tanja Fajon: support for upcoming New Pact for the Mediterranean & call for deescalation in the Middle East + urgent return to diplomacy. EU Foreign Ministers will discuss the developments today.

At DROI Committee Press today: Comprehensive and mutually beneficial partnerships with countries in the Middle East and North Africa are key for building bridges and connections for people and economies, but also best tools to improve human rights situation throughout the region.

The ceasefire between Israel and Iran is an important step towards restoring stability in the region. Now the focus needs to be on effective diplomacy. A lasting peace in the Middle East requires a lasting solution in Gaza. We call on Israel to fully lift its blockade on Gaza.
