Three months ago, Field Museum gave WTTW News exclusive access to an incredibly rare fossil. Today, the secret is revealed. Jingmai O’Connor, associate curator of fossil reptiles, introduced the “Chicago Archaeopteryx… the most important fossil ever.” to.wttw.com/4duUhfo

On Monday morning, the museum revealed the 13th specimen known to exist of Archaeopteryx, a fossil often described as the “missing link” between dinosaurs and birds. The Field becomes the only public institution outside of Europe to have an Archaeopteryx in its collection.
