Just a friendly reminder that the Psychology department at Oklahoma State Univ. is hiring! We are hiring two tenure track assistant professors. One in Cognition (apply.interfolio.com/94333) and one in Clinical Diversity Science (apply.interfolio.com/94337).

Who would have thunk that a quirk in a dataset would lead down a rabbit hole about MTurk, which would lead to a manuscript exploring said quirk, which would lead to this highly cited paper, and the first (of many) collaborations between Mike Chmielewski and Sarah Kucker, Ph.D.



As someone whose work falls victim to the "map trap", I join Ela Wojcik-Gront Martin Zettersten Viridiana L. Benitez in their argument for change. To truly advance our understanding of language & vocab dev, we need to move beyond single word-referent maps. Recommended read for word learning researchers!

One of my fav studies, with Blair Braun jessica markham Plus, was an excuse to see how kids react to margarita glasses and high heels (they love them). We find age & vocab, but also children's shape bias, and oddity in object shape (but not color), impact item identification
