I had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Joaan Bin Jassim Academy for Defence Studies in Doha, 🇶🇦 to the AU. Our deliberations focused on AU-led PSOs, knowledge exchange, early warning & fostering collaboration betw AU and Qatar on peace & security in Africa.

Ambassador Sullivan had a productive meeting with African Union Political Affairs Peace and Security Commissioner Amb. Bankole Adeoye in advance of his visit to Washington, and reiterated U.S. support for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia through means other than UNSCR 2719.

Successful consultations with Trump Administration Officials &Congress  on AU-US relations. Deliberations focused on enhancing partnership on CT, peace & prosperity in Somalia, DRC, Sudan, S/Sudan, Sahel, Libya, Mozambique, the Horn, maritime security & Africa as a growth pole.

At UN Ministerial on PKO in Berlin, 🇩🇪 AU reiterated imperative to adjust to new conflict dynamics. Traditional PKO has reached its limit. Critical to enhance new generation Peace Ops: #ATMIS & #MNJTF with balanced mandates & resources. PSOs a means to end, not an end in itself.

2nd Annual Joint Consultative mtg Betw #AUPSC/#ECOWAS MSC in Addis Ababa, 🇪🇹 agreed on the urgency to combat terrorism in Sahel through a comprehensive approach. They committed to dev a security coop framework betw AU & ECOWAS for enhanced joint action & improved governance.

Rich discussions with H.E. Amb. Alexis Lamek of #France on support to Ethiopia’s stabilisation efforts, security in the Sahel, and African-led peace efforts in the Horn of Africa, the Great Lakes, etc. We agreed to enhance AU-France collaboration for peace & stability in Africa.

At the #Sudan Youth Forum 🇺🇬 from 24 to 26 June, I encouraged Sudanese Youth to fully participate in all peace processes, lay the groundwork for an inclusive democratic transition, & work for a ceasefire agreement as per the AU roadmap for the resolution of the Conflict in Sudan.
