We are excited to share our latest preprint from the Hogenhout lab (Saskia Hogenhout, John Innes Centre) on plant-aphid interactions, showing that the aphid effector Mp10 balances suppression of DAMP responses and activation of ETI via EDS1.

Therefore, we identified EDS1 as a key player in the dual role of Mp10, suppressing DTI/PTI responses and eliciting ETI, indicating that Mp10 operates at the interface of PTI/DTI and ETI to manipulate plant immunity.

#2025ISMPMI Tolga Bozkurt introduces the effector and immune processes occurring at Phytophthora haustoria. The helper NRC4 localises to haustoria and upon activation inserts itself into the extrahaustorial membrane forming punctuate foci. It seems activated NLRs beep annoyingly.
