Deeply sad to report that the wonderful human being and philosopher Professor Bob Stern died peacefully yesterday after a long illness which he faced with utter fortitude. Here he is in March at an event in his honour at Sheffield. We will miss him terribly. His legacy is immense

It is with great sadness that we report the death of our dear friend and colleague Robert Stern on 21 August 2024. Bob was well known and respected around the world for both his outstanding scholarship and his kindness. He will be greatly missed.

An attempt to bring together some of the key ideas in Bob Stern's thought. I think there's a system there, and that it's a good one!

I wrote something about the ethics of social media, thinking of this place, and a conversation with Tom Whyman It touches upon calls for civility, and whether they blunt serious resistance to power. philpapers.org/rec/SAUTEO-12

Gonna try and log off here, for obvious reasons. I get the sense that BlueSky might be less of a threat to democracy? Might see you there. @joe-saunders.bsky.social
